Grayson. NEEDS. Your. Help.

See that giant bag yellow bag up there? That’s called methotrexate. That is what is keeping Grayson’s cancer from coming back. Please read what Kalee has to say and then, please (I’m begging you here), click on the link to take action. Not only that, but share this post anywhere and everywhere. “Like” this page so it shows up on Facebook (we have gotten over 500 likes before–can we beat that?). Tweet it, blog it, Pin it…or send the petition link to everyone you know. Please do something. Do it for Grayson and all those other precious children who have been diagnosed with A.L.L. and are in need of this drug. It will take less than five minutes of your time.

“Imagine your child being diagnosed with a life threatening illness. Well, that is our reality now that Grayson has been diagnosed with leukemia. Now imagine being told that the drug he needs to save his life and help his cancer from relapsing is, if you will, being held hostage by greedy manufacturers who suddenly suspended production of this life saving drug. Well, that too is now our reality. My heart hurts knowing that there is a huge shortage of methotrexate and that this could put my sweet, innocent little guy’s life in jeopardy. Why? We live in a first world country with many modern medical advances. Why is this allowed? Please sign the petition and do whatever you can to help. What would you do if this were your child? I will go to the ends of the earth to do whatever may be necessary to get my son the help he needs. Because I am his mother, and I refuse to stand by and watch while those big guys at the top who are orchestrating this unconscionable act.” ~Kalee

Grayson, I am currently raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma society through it’s Team in Training program. On June 3rd of this year I will ride 100 miles around Lake Tahoe in your honor and will proudly wear your name on a ribbon on my jersey. Unfortunately your ribbon will join almost 50 others. I will continue to ride until we find a cure. God bless you. Stay strong.

I signed up and will share thru FB and any other way that I can. It is heartbreaking that the drug companies are allowed to suspend production for something that actually helps keep the cancer away. What is our world coming to? God Bless You for sharing this info (found you thru a post over at Lil Blue Boo’s blog – she also receives this chemo medication). May God Bless Grayson and his family during this time.

Claire Williams - February 15, 2012 - 2:46 am

My prayers go out to you and your family. It is criminal that they will not produce this drug. I will pray that they act fast. I am a mom to 4 healthy kids and this broke my heart reading about your story. I can’t imagine feeling so helpless, so I signed the petition, liked the link and will spread the word, for your son, all the other kids and any future kids. This could be my child and I would like to know I could count on strangers to help make a change. In my prayers.

Thanks for posting this link. We all need to do everything possible to get the producers of methotrexate to increase the production. This drug saves lives and is a necessity for these patients. My wife and I are experiencing a similar journey, as our son, Bemnnett, was diagnosed with ALL in April. As I checked your site tonight, my wife was posting the same message on our caringbridge and Facebook pages. Hopefully we can speak with a loud enough voice to make a difference. Prayers to you and your family.

OMG – this is absolutely unconscionable!!!

My heartfelt prayers go to Grayson and his family and every other family fighting this fight (cancer and the medical beaurocracy). I can’t even imagine what this beautiful brave little boy is enduring.

I’ll pray everyday for remission and for Grayson to have a normal childhood rather than relying on this medicine to keep his cancer away!!

God Bless you all

Barbara Warren - February 16, 2012 - 3:39 pm

I to take methotrexate, but I take it for rhumatoid arthiritis. If I took that much methotrexate I would gladly give it up to help these children. The one thing I can do is pray and keep you all on our prayer chain. God has already walked these steps before us. He is the Great Physician. Lord I lift these children loosing their medication up to you. Lord you know the situation and have already walked this path before them. We are thanking you in advance for your miracle in this situation. AMEN

Beth - February 17, 2012 - 1:42 am

It is very important we make it very clear these kids need this medication, my 8 year old nephew was just diagnosed in October with ALL and because of Methotrexate he is now considered in remission. I don’t want to see what will happen without it. We too have a petition please take a moment and sign ours as well. Posted on Bald and Beautiful Barbies.

Thank you.

Kirk Diepenbrock - February 18, 2012 - 5:32 am

I am not trying to change topic but I did some reading after seeing this post. This post on FB grabbed my attention because your son and mine share the same name. The Federal gov’t actuall shut down the lead manufacturer of this drug. My suggestion is to push all these signatures to your local senator and/or rep. God Bless! You have my thoughts and prayers.

Wanda Peterson - February 18, 2012 - 8:52 am

Prayers being sent from NJ. Signed the petition and have posted the link and drug company addresses on Facebook. Hope it helps.

Marilyn Lotz - February 18, 2012 - 8:57 pm

Methotrexate helped my daughter’s Non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Usage isn’t limited to leukemia.

Zoe - February 18, 2012 - 9:50 pm

Signed, shared, and having friends share. My cousin-in-law’s 3-yr-old son is in remission (of leukemia), and she is witness to this drug’s powers. Helping as much as we can! You’re in our prayers.

Rhonda - February 18, 2012 - 10:05 pm

I just signed the petition and posted it on my facebook page, and on my son’s group page — he has ALL subtype B and requires this drug, too. But, it is not the only cancer drug that is facing a shortage. This week his clinic let me know that IV Zofran is already being rationed. (For those who don’t already know… this is the drug used to combat the nausea caused from the treatments and is what keeps our children eating and keeping their food and drinks down.) I don’t know how many others are affected. I only hope they get their priorities straight before lives and treatments are affected any more. That is his link. If there are any other petition links for all or other of these drugs, I would really love to know. Thank you and God bless!

Betty Songer - February 19, 2012 - 1:23 am

This should not be happening, A shortage of CHEMO, Seriously,
Much love Grayson

Jan Ligarde - February 21, 2012 - 12:27 am

I’m 66 and alive to love my grandchildren because of chemo treatments this past year. How can I be truly thankful for my recovery knowing that any child is going without because of some pharmaceutical company’s greed, and our government’s inability to regulate – truly regulate. This is where I draw to line on conservatism. Today’s thought: Conservatives want less government the way burglars want fewer cops. Why shouldn’t our elected representatives police pharmaceutical companies that would withhold life saving medicines?

Kate - February 21, 2012 - 4:46 pm

I signed the petition. Much love & thoughts your way from Wyoming!

Julie - February 24, 2012 - 5:13 am

Signed!! God bless

Angie Lentz - February 28, 2012 - 7:00 pm

I can’t even imagine what you all are going through with sweet Grayson and his need of Methotrexate. My mom needs that drug as well for her RA so I know how important it really is. I’m signing and have linked to stay involved to how your sweet boy is doing. I have 3 children and I would want everyone to do the same if it were any of them going through this horrible disease. Praying for total healing for Grayson.

Kalee – hunny – have no fear – you have two of the greatest powers on your side – The Great Lord above and All the Mommies protecting their babies!! Grayson and your family are in our family prayers! Hang tight momma – help is on the way!!

Jyn - April 15, 2012 - 3:10 am

My daughter is on Methotrexate too for an autoimmune disease that is eating away at her jaw. We tried filling it here, in Portland OR and it’s been unavailable in injection form lately but available at one place in pill. I still have injection form available from previous fillings (she only takes not even a full syringe) so we are cool for a few more months but since I learned of the shortage it breaks my heart to think kiddos like Grayson are so effected. Abigail’s condition isn’t life threatening.
It almost makes me want to package up all the vials left we have and send it to ya guys! We are so praying for you. I hate what it does to her in the small bits she gets, let alone what he must go through.
